Amanita Linked to More than 20 Deaths

One of the deadliest mushrooms, Amanita phalloides (The Death Cap) is being blamed for the death of at least 20 people in India, while dozens other are being treated for poisoning. This particular variety of mushroom is responsible for the majority of poisonings in the Unites States.

images.jpegSymptoms of the Death Cap are:

*Early stages include cramping, diarrhea, vomiting and dehydration. This stage can last up to a day.

*Second stage often includes the person feeling better. Many think they are well on the road to recovery when kidney, liver and other organ damage begins.

*Third stage includes organ failure and often death.
